Two extremely bad experience with Energiedirect, but the same issues. They always simply calculated my final bills based on their own figure or even estimation, although I provided the meter readings as they requested. Afterwards it took me enormous time/energy/phone call i.e. money to get my money back. I am completely disappointed with this supplier and persuade all my friends to stay away from this unfriendly company, never ever use their service. 1. 2012 in Eindhoven After one year contract with Energiedirect, they charged ~1300 euro more than I consumed. So I contacted them and they requested me to send a picture of the reading again, it was already 1-2 months later than I moved out. Luckily the landlord had made an inspection when new tenants moved in so the meter readings on the inspection letter were correct and Energiedirect accepted it. Then they said they will recalculate the bill and money will be refunded soon. But after half a month no further update from them so I contacted them again, it seemed they had not proceeded with my bill and would correct in the following weeks. So another two weeks without update I called them and different person picked it up but still no progress. It happened several times as this and I spent a lot of money on the phone bills. Then I had a trip and did not contact them for one month but apparently they did not do anything with my bill. So I called them more frequently until the last time money was refunded. It was already more than half a year after they charged ~1300 euro from me, and I spent ~100 euro phone call to get it back, quite a lot for a student with little money at that time. I almost forgot about it until this nasty thing came to me the second time in 2016 Arnhem. It reminded me of every bad feelings at that time, full of anger. 2. 2016 in Arnhem The one year contract was signed by previous tenant so I had no choice. In Jan. I sent the meter readings as they asked and also took photos for my reference. But when I received the final bills the gas reading was doubled as I sent. So I asked them and they said "officially" that they did not get my reading so just estimated a number and charged the money. This means if I did not check then I lost the money already just because of their estimation. To correct it they needed photo as proof and I sent it to them, they did not accepted it because no date on it and asked for new photo. However I left Arnhem already. So I said this was your fault and cannot request me to do more to get my own money back, but all I got was nonsense response from them for proof. Later the landlord sent me the inspection letter and I forwarded to Energiedirect, and now I got the money in March. Although in the end I received the money for both contracts, but I cannot stop feeling angry and sad about their service. How can a company just make/estimate a number for our gas/electricity consumption? How can they say not receiving my meter readings after I sent as requested? How can they proceed with customer complaints so unimportantly and ignorantly, etc. Anyway, last time to talk/use Energiedirect.
